Musical Tribute to Aine 2011
St. Senan’s Primary School in Enniscorthy received an early Christmas bonus in 2011, as a cheque for €4,500 was handed over, following a charity fundraiser earlier in the year.
A musical tribute night was held in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, to mark the first anniversary of the passing of Aine Kennedy, from Ballyellis, Carnew, who lost her life at the age of five and a half, to culture negative sepsis.
Aine was a student in the Autistic unit at St. Senan’s, and although she had a history of epilepsy and autism, she took life in her stride and enjoyed school.
She had a passion for music and a bubbly personality, and left her mark and touched all who met her and worked with her in St. Senan’s NS.
On the night of the musical tribute, Aine took her place centre stage on a canvas portrait, as all the artists paid tribute to this amazing little girl.
Opening the show was Paul Harrington with his Eurovision hit ‘Rock n’ Roll Kids’, and he was backed by the students’ choir of St. Senans.
All proceeds from the night were sent to St. Senan’s NS Autistic Unit to help her little pals she left behind.
A memorial fund was set up in 2007 in memory of Aine’s sister Aoife who died tragically in a traffic accident on November 5, 2006 in Carnew.
The charity was renamed ‘The Aoife and Aine Kennedy Memorial Fund’ in 2010 after Aine’s passing and it continues to work in their memory.
